FROM THE ROAD ARCHIVES

JJanuary 5, 2005 2006

Happy New Year. Holy! I cant believe its 2006! They say as you get older the years get shorter. Im definitely starting to believe in that theory. Maybe its because as you age the length of a year in relation to the amount of years you have lived gets shorter. So, if you are only 5 years old then 1 year is an eternity... but if you are 60, 1 year is pretty short.
So, my point isn't really that at all. The reason I wanted to get on here was to say THANKS to all the great people that came out to support the last tour. It was really satisfying to take a fun idea (with Garrison) and turn it into a full blown tour. We zipped up and down the east coast with several shows in the same town (Birmingham, Atlanta, NYC, MA) and then a few isolated shows in between.

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

Stand out shows were Club Passim (boston), Bitter End (in NYC and our first show with Michelle Malone on board!!), The Basement in Nashville and The Pour House in Raleigh.
The folks at the Pour House win the prize for going above and beyond the call of duty and really making me and G Starr feel welcome.

Weirdest show was the Tin Angel (PA) where it was FREEZING inside and no heat in sight. I'm not sure how they make it through the winter but I played most of the show with my winter coat on! A big shout out to the folks that sat and endured the frost.

Birmingham is the hands down winner for most enthusiastic crowds. We played there 3 times and each time the crowd was bigger and rowdier than the last! These shows were at a great venue called the Moonlight Music Café and this guy is hanging on by a thread to keep this place open. It is definitely a place that should BE OPEN! smoke free, booze, comfy, cozy, great sound and awesome vibe. Birmingham!! Support him in anyway you can!!

January and Feb will be light on shows. Im hoping to get some more work done on a new CD and ive got a bunch of new cuban songs that I want to work out. Maybe even put them on their own CD. Who knows.. But there is tons of work on the horizon and I can't wait to get to it. Those of you who are looking for a 2006 vacation might want to consider the Olivia Cruise to Hawaii. I will be playing 3 times and it should be great.
Hope all is well out there and I hope to see you all again real soon. Thanks for the love and support.
